M.P. Heritage Development Trust
In the initiative of Madhya Pradesh Government’s Culture Department, Madhya Pradesh Heritage Development Trust was established on 27-05-2000 for the protection, preservation, and documentation of archaeological wealth and heritage of Madhya Pradesh. The objective of this trust is to receive funds from national and foreign investors and spend it on the protection, preservation and development of state’s archaeological heritage, monuments and museums.
The ex-officio office-bearers of the Trust has Chief Minister as Chairperson, Culture Minister as Deputy Chairperson, Commissioner/ Director, Archaeology, Archives and Museums as Trustee Secretary and Principal Secretaries/Secretaries of Finance, Culture and Housing & Environment Departments as members. There is a provision of 14 members of the Trust, besides 8 non-government Trustees including four from the industrial houses and four from archaeology and culture sectors. The quorum of 8 trustees is necessary for holding a meeting of the trust out of which four must be non-government trustees from industrial houses and archaeology and culture sectors. In the absence of the Chairperson, the meeting should be chaired by the Deputy Chairperson.
The executive committee of the trust should consist of 8 members. Its chairperson is the Culture Minister and Trustee-Secretary is Commissioner/Director, Archaeology, Archives and Museums. Ex-officio members include Principal Secretary/Secretary of Finance and Culture departments.
Quorum of 50 percent members will be required for holding executive committee meetings out of which 2 members must be from non-government sector. The meeting can be convened anytime as per requirement.
